A 60-year old woman was airlifted to hospital this morning (15 December), following a crash on the M23 southbound carriage.
Police are asking for witnesses to the collision, which took place around 9.15am between junction 8 and 9, to come forward.
The crash involved a blue Peugeot 106 and a blue Peugeot 206.
The driver and sole occupant of the Peugeot 206, a woman in her 60s, was taken to East Surrey Hospital by South East Coast Ambulance with injuries.
The driver of the Peugeot 106, who was also the sole occupant, was not injured during the incident.
Officers were assisted at the scene by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance, the South East Air Ambulance and the Highways Agency.
The southbound carriageway was closed while emergency crews attended the scene, debris from the incident was removed from the road and recovery for the vehicles was made.
The carriageway was partially re-opened at 10.20am.
The northbound carriageway was closed for a short period of time while the air ambulance attended the scene.
